Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an independent specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated SENDCo to join their experienced and supportive staff team.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a specialist setting supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a highly personalised approach to education, small class sizes and a strong focus on helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. SEMH settings require specialist approaches to behaviour, emotional regulation, attachment and trauma-informed practice.
The successful candidate will initially join on a temporary basis with a clear pathway to a permanent position for the right person.
- Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school
- Manage and oversee EHCPs, annual reviews and statutory processes
- Work closely with teaching, pastoral and leadership teams to ensure pupils receive the support they need
- Liaise with families, local authorities and external professionals
- Support staff with effective SEND strategies and interventions
- Monitor provision, progress and outcomes for pupils with additional needs
- Contribute to the continued development of SEND provision across the school
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- SENDCo qualification (or working towards completion where applicable)
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills
- A proactive and solution-focused approach
