Teaching Personnel are proud to be supporting the recruitment of an SEN Learning Support Assistant on behalf of a warm, inclusive and multicultural primary school in Slough. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
Working as part of the school's established Inclusion Team, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs and contribute to creating an environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed.
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
The Role: The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SEND team and wider school staff to provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs
- Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes
- Promoting pupil independence, confidence and engagement in learning
- Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress and achievements
- Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
- Supporting the school's inclusive ethos and safeguarding responsibilities

- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school or similar setting
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can build positive relationships and establish trust with pupils
- Is proactive, flexible and able to use their own initiative

- Is committed to supporting the educational, emotional and social development of children
- Holds relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
