Teaching Personnel's Liverpool & Wirral Secondary Team is currently recruiting Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to support a wide range of partnership schools across the Wirral. With multiple vacancies available, we are looking for dedicated, compassionate and proactive individuals who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate looking to begin a career in education, or someone with transferable experience supporting children and young people, we would love to hear from you.
About the Role:
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 11-16 who require additional support to access learning and achieve their full potential. You may support pupils with a variety of needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Complex Special Educational Needs
Roles may involve one-to-one support, small group intervention work, classroom assistance, and pastoral support within both mainstream secondary schools and specialist SEN provisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEN in lessons to promote engagement and academic progress.
- Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Assisting teachers with classroom management and the delivery of differentiated learning activities.
- Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs through positive behaviour strategies.
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
We Are Looking For:
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults (education experience desirable but not essential).
- Graduates seeking to gain school-based experience before pursuing teaching, educational psychology or other education-related careers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
