Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in October 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop social and communication skills, and thrive both academically and emotionally within the school environment.

The Role

As a 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).




• Build a positive and trusting relationship that promotes confidence, engagement, and independence.




• Support the pupil in accessing classroom activities and adapting learning tasks where required.




• Implement tailored strategies and interventions to meet the pupil's individual needs.




• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.




• Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and positive interactions with peers.




• Monitor progress and contribute to the review of support plans, targets, and interventions.




• Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where the pupil can thrive.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in an educational, childcare, or care setting.




• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm, positive approach to supporting children with additional needs.




• Has a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.




• Can build strong working relationships with pupils, families, and school staff.




• Possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills.




• Holds relevant SEN qualifications, Autism training, or experience implementing autism-specific strategies (desirable).




• Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to making a positive impact on a child's educational experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
