We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience working with young people who is looking to develop their experience within a secondary school environment.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of the usual class teacher. Work will be pre-planned and provided by the school, allowing you to focus on maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising classes across a range of secondary subjects
- Delivering pre-prepared work and instructions to pupils
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task
- Providing support and guidance where appropriate
- Following the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies
- Reporting back to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour
- Supporting the wider school team when required
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident managing groups of secondary-aged pupils
- Able to establish clear expectations and boundaries
- Calm, resilient and approachable
- An effective communicator
- Organised and able to adapt to different subjects and year groups
- Passionate about supporting young people's education
Previous experience within a secondary school or working with young people would be highly beneficial. This role could also be ideal for graduates considering a future career in teaching and looking to gain valuable classroom experience.
