1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 2)
Location: Central Preston
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:40am - 3:20pm
Contract: Initially 12 months, with the potential for long-term continuation throughout the child's primary education
Start Date: September 2026
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child joining our Year 2 class in September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in a child's educational journey. The pupil is new to the school and has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). We are looking for an educator who understands the unique needs of autistic children and can provide consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day.
The child responds particularly well to:
- Positive reinforcement and encouragement
- Smiley faces and visual praise
- Clear routines and consistency
- Scaffolded and well-structured learning tasks
- Calm, patient and predictable interactions
Academically, the child is performing exceptionally well in English and enjoys opportunities to extend and showcase their strengths. The successful candidate will therefore be able to support both their learning and social-emotional development, while maintaining high expectations for achievement.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Be patient, resilient and enthusiastic
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children, families and staff
- Understand the importance of consistency and structure
- Be able to adapt learning activities and provide appropriate scaffolding
- Work effectively as part of a supportive school team
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
