Are you passionate about helping learners develop essential Maths and English skills? We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to support young people across the NE40 area who require additional educational support. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping learners build confidence, improve attainment, and progress towards their educational goals.

About the Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver tailored one-to-one sessions designed to meet the individual needs of each learner. You will work with students who may be disengaged from mainstream education, have additional learning needs, or require extra support to achieve Functional Skills qualifications.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering high-quality Functional Skills tuition in Maths and/or English
  • Planning engaging lessons that meet individual learning needs
  • Supporting learners to develop confidence and independence
  • Monitoring progress and adapting sessions accordingly
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning
  • Maintaining accurate records and feedback following sessions

What We're Looking For

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and/or English within the UK
  • Strong understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with learners
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting learners with SEN/SEND needs
  • QTS, PGCE, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or relevant tutoring experience
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or anxiety
  • Ability to deliver both Maths and English Functional Skills
