GCSE Maths and English Tutors to support young people across Crawley, Horsham, and surrounding areas.

We are specifically looking for tutors who can provide GCSE Maths and English support, helping learners strengthen their subject knowledge, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

Many of the learners we support require a personalised approach due to SEND, gaps in education, or barriers to learning.

We are therefore looking for tutors who can create engaging, learner-focused sessions that promote progress and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one GCSE Maths and/or English tuition.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum and GCSE specifications.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Support learners in developing subject knowledge, exam techniques, and study skills.
  • Monitor progress and provide detailed session feedback.
  • Maintain professional communication with parents, schools, local authorities, and TP Tutors where required.
  • The Learners

You may support pupils who

  • Are working towards GCSE Maths and/or English qualifications.
  • Have SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, anxiety, or communication needs.
  • Are accessing alternative provision or awaiting a suitable school placement.
  • Require a flexible, patient, and personalised learning approach.
  • Need additional support to re-engage with education and reach their potential.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE Maths and/or English.
  • Strong understanding of the GCSE curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Experience supporting learners with a range of educational needs.
  • Ability to differentiate learning and adapt teaching approaches effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent educational experience.
  • Previous one-to-one tutoring experience.
  • Knowledge of SEND and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Experience supporting pupils facing barriers to education.
