About the Role

  • We are looking for a dedicated and experienced
  • Functional Skills Tutor to provide high-quality, personalised tuition to learners in the

Bacup (OL13) area of Lancashire . This rewarding role involves delivering engaging Functional Skills lessons in

English and/or Maths , helping learners develop essential skills, improve confidence, and work towards their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 Functional Skills tuition in English and/or Maths.
  • Assess learners' abilities and create individual learning plans.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet learners' needs and targets.
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of achievement.
  • Adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Encourage motivation, engagement, and independent learning.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
  • Strong understanding of Functional Skills qualifications and curriculum.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent).
  • Functional Skills teaching experience.
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, or those outside of mainstream education.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
