Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Food Technology Teacher for a long-term supply position at a secondary school in Sunderland, with an immediate start available. Food Technology is a practical, engaging subject that connects directly to students' everyday lives — and the school is looking for a teacher who can bring that energy into the classroom and deliver a broad, well-structured curriculum across KS3 and KS4.
Strong candidates with experience teaching Nutrition, Hospitality, or related disciplines alongside Food Technology are particularly encouraged to apply.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning and delivering Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Managing a practical food preparation environment safely and confidently
- Developing students' practical cooking skills alongside theoretical food science knowledge
- Assessing progress and supporting students of all abilities
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and classroom management
- Contributing to departmental planning and whole-school events
- Upholding the school's safeguarding responsibilities
To be considered:
- QTS or equivalent
- A degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related discipline
- Proven experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level
- Confidence managing a practical classroom environment safely
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
