Whether you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or have worked with children through childcare, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or support work, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adapting learning activities to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Supporting the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
  • Encouraging engagement, participation, and confidence during lessons.
  • Implementing strategies to support emotional well-being and positive behaviour.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, ALNCo, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil to help them feel secure and motivated in school.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff where required.
  • Supporting the pupil during transitions, breaktimes, and other parts of the school day as needed.

Who Would Suit This Role?

The school is looking for a patient, caring, and resilient individual who can build strong relationships and provide consistent support tailored to a child's individual needs.

Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills gained through:

  • Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant roles
  • Nursery and Early Years settings
  • Childcare and playwork
  • Youth work and mentoring
  • Sports coaching
  • Care and support work
  • Psychology, Education, or Childhood Studies graduates
  • Individuals with experience supporting children with additional learning needs

The ideal candidate will be positive, proactive, and passionate about helping young children achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

What Teaching Personnel Can Offer

  • Competitive weekly pay through PAYE.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated local consultant.
  • Access to free and discounted CPD courses and training.
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent school placements across the Vale of Glamorgan.
  • Valuable experience for those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or specialist support roles.
