Experienced 1:1 Tutors & Mentors Wanted – Make a Difference Outside the Classroom. TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking dedicated, experienced, and passionate educators to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition and mentoring to pupils across the Cambridge area. This rewarding opportunity involves supporting pupils in their homes, schools, or alternative educational settings during school hours. Many of the young people we support require tailored educational provision due to gaps in learning, SEND, SEMH needs, medical needs, or challenges accessing mainstream education.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging and personalised lessons on a one-to-one basis.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver sessions aligned with educational targets.
  • Assess progress and maintain accurate records of pupil development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and local authority representatives.
  • Support pupils in rebuilding confidence, engagement, and independence in learning.
  • Provide both academic tutoring and mentoring support to help pupils achieve educational and personal development goals.
  • Create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment tailored to each pupil's needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience teaching or working with children and young people.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to different learning environments.
  • A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Workforce) registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, medical needs, or those working below age‑related expectations.
  • Experience working within alternative provision, mentoring, youth work, or intervention programmes.
  • Access to reliable transport due to the nature of travelling between pupil locations.
