The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement personalised support plans.
  • Encourage pupils' social, emotional and academic development.
  • Promote independence while providing appropriate guidance and reassurance.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom when required.

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school, nursery, care, youth work or support setting.
  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential with suitable experience).
