About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive SEN Pastoral Support Officer to join our supportive team. This role is vital in providing emotional, behavioural, and social support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they can thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support for pupils with SEN
- Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and confidence
- Assist in managing behaviour and implementing personalised support plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and safeguarding teams
- Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals where required
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Support attendance, wellbeing, and emotional regulation strategies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
- Experience with behaviour management strategies
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, Psychology) are desirable
