About the Role
We are seeking a resilient and proactive Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and academic support within a secondary school setting. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviours, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Support students both inside and outside the classroom to improve learning outcomes.
- Work alongside teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral teams to develop effective intervention plans.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
- Record and monitor student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging students to make informed choices and reach their goals.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Experience within schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, or similar settings is desirable.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
