Are you an experienced Behaviour Specialist with a passion for supporting young people who may struggle within a traditional classroom environment?
We are seeking a confident, resilient and experienced Behaviour Specialist to join a secondary school in the Barnoldswick area on a full-time basis. This role will focus on supporting pupils outside of the mainstream classroom, helping them to manage their behaviour, re-engage with their education and make positive progress.
The Role
As a Behaviour Specialist, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional support with their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated support to pupils outside of the classroom
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, or managing the classroom in the absence of the teacher
- Supporting pupils who are struggling to engage with mainstream lessons
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Helping pupils develop strategies to manage their behaviour and emotions
- Supporting the successful reintegration of pupils back into lessons where appropriate
- Managing challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Working alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams and senior leaders
- Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and attendance
The Successful Candidate
Previous experience is essential for this position. We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have experience working within:
- Secondary schools
- Behaviour or inclusion units
- Alternative provision
- Pupil referral units (PRUs)
- SEND or SEMH settings
- Youth work or other relevant behaviour-focused environments
You will need to be confident, patient and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build rapport with secondary-aged pupils.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
