Art Technician - Secondary School - East London
Teaching Consultancy is recruiting on behalf of a successful secondary school in East London for an experienced Art Technician.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-resourced Art Department, supporting teachers and students by preparing practical lessons, maintaining equipment and ensuring the department operates efficiently.
The successful candidate will prepare lesson resources, maintain specialist equipment, organise stock, support practical classroom activities, create displays across the school and assist with exhibitions, moderation and the day-to-day management of the school library.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare materials and equipment for practical Art lessons.
- Maintain Art equipment, resources and stock.
- Support teachers and students during practical lessons.
- Produce classroom and whole-school displays.
- Prepare resources for examinations and exhibitions.
- Ensure safe storage and disposal of materials.
- Support school media projects and library duties.
- Maintain accurate records and departmental resources.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
- Support school events and other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as an Art Technician or in a similar role within a UK secondary school is essential.
- Relevant Art, Design or Creative qualification.
- Experience supporting practical Art lessons.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety within an Art environment.
Applicants without previous UK secondary school Art Technician experience will not be considered.
