A special educational needs school in Mansfield are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils on a full-time basis (term time only). The school caters for pupils aged 3 - 18 years with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions), SCLN (Speech, language, and communication needs) and other complex needs. They require a Learning Support Assistant, ideally with previous experience providing support for young people with additional needs, and who is committed to increasing life chances for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The successful applicant will join an established team of class and senior teachers, and Learning Support Assistants. Team Teach qualification is required although training can be provided.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience in an education or health care setting, and be able to liaise with a large, multi-disciplinary team
- Have excellent communication skills and will be responsible for providing feedback to pupils and their parents/carers on a regular basis
- Ideally have a valid Team Teach certificate
- Be comfortable with personal care and support feeding due to the complexity of pupil needs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop a happy, safe, and stimulating learning environment which meets pupils' physical, academic, social and emotional needs
- Support young people to develop their confidence, resilience, and independence for life beyond school
- Support teachers in the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum which meets individual needs and prepares pupils for employment and success after their school journey
- Liaise with parents/carers and a multi-disciplinary team to ensure holistic support for pupils and provide a wide range of experience
