Provide Education are currently looking for a number of experienced Personal Care Assistants to work within the Derby area as Teaching Assistants. Within these roles, you will be required to support on a 1:1 basis. You’ll be working with students, aged 3-18 who have additional needs such as PMLD, ASC, Complex Needs, Global Development Delay and SLD. Whether you are an experienced Personal Care Assistant who has worked within a mainstream or specialist education setting, or someone who has exceptional vocational skills and a real drive to make a difference in children’s lives, we have an exciting opportunity for you. You will be required to ensure the safety of the children and young people and facilitate their access to learning by responding to individual needs, which may include personal care and hygiene needs such as toileting and changing.
Duties include:
- Working on a 1:1 basis
- Support the class teacher in addressing the needs of the pupils
- Assist pupils who need particular help with behaviour management to overcome barriers to learning
- Personal care including toileting and cleaning
- Help to develop and implement IEPs/EHCPs and behaviour management strategies
The ideal candidate will be:
- Have an understanding of needs including SLD, PMLD, GDD, ASC or Complex care needs
- Be patient, resilient and empathetic to students’ individual needs
- Experience of working with children and young adults as either a Youth Worker, a Sports Coach or within an education setting would be advantageous
- An up-to-date DBS that is on the DBS Update Service (or be willing to undertake a new one)
- Proof of Safeguarding at a minimum of Level 1 (or be willing to undergo online training)
