Engagement / Behaviour Mentor & Tutor Roles
We are recruiting for full and part‑time roles in an alternative provision based in Alfreton. After completing a 12‑week placement, successful staff may transition to a permanent contract, subject to performance.
About the Provision
The provision supports students from KS2 to KS5 who do not attend school for reasons such as exclusion or SEMH needs linked to trauma or anxiety.

Key Responsibilities
- Support students with functional skills in English and Maths.
- Deliver PSHE and project‑based science lessons such as Nutrition and the human body.
- Provide vocational subjects and organise extracurricular activities including team games, obstacle courses, zoo visits, farm visits, climbing, amusement parks, geocaching, scavenger hunts, and bushcraft.
- Offer one‑to‑one mentoring and arrange visits to schools and colleges.
- Lead creative sessions such as graffiti, urban art classes, healthy eating, and cooking lessons.
Professional Development
Staff have the opportunity to progress from Mentor to Tutor to Teacher, with the provision heavily investing in training and development.
Requirements
- Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- An enhanced DBS check and copy of original qualifications are required before placement.
