This is an exciting opportunity to join the Economics Department at Fettes College in January 2027 as a part-time teacher providing maternity cover (minimum 0.5 FTE). Currently made up of four teachers, the Department is a friendly team who share a passion for Economics and to getting the very best out of every student. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire students of all abilities and demonstrate a real enthusiasm for Economics to students aged 13-18 who are studying GCSEs, A Levels and the IB Diploma. Ideal Candidate: The Ideal Candidate Successful applicants for this part-time role would be expected to have the following characteristics: β’ Excellent academic pedigree with experience of teaching Economics at GCSE, A Level and/or IB Diploma β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and to adapt communication to meet individual student needs β’ Ambition, diligence, and a commitment to developing professional skills β’ Empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate students, helping them build confidence, resilience, and independent learning skills β’ Confidence using technology effectively to enhance teaching, learning and student engagement Conditions of the Appointment Package Description: The appointment will date from the start of the Spring Term in January 2027. β’ Salary will be in the range of Β£38,000-Β£61,000pa (applied pro-rata) dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate β’ All applicants must be either registered with GTC Scotland (GTCS) or eligible for GTCS registration.
