Remuneration: At the appropriate point on St George’s Main Grade Scale for Teachers.

Supply Assignment: Details of this instance of assignment, including projected working hours required, will be discussed at interview.

Job Purpose: To teach and support the provision of Physical Education and Sport on a supply basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To the Pupils:
    • To prepare and deliver lessons in line with the agreed syllabus;
    • To mark and assess the pupils’ work in line with national, school and departmental requirements, and to record the assessments in line with current policy;
    • To stimulate and encourage pupils to a high standard of interest and work, ensuring that the needs of each individual are met;
    • To offer, as appropriate, to initiate and help with extra-curricular activities.
  • To the Department:
    • To take part in departmental meetings as required by the Head of Department and School Policy;
    • To participate in syllabus development, the generation of schemes of work and support materials and to take advice and instruction from the Head of Department;
    • To keep abreast of relevant educational developments;
    • To keep the Head of Department informed of any pupil who might be experiencing difficulties at any time;
    • To support activities out-with the classroom, such as trips, visits or competitions which underpin and/or enhance the effective delivery of the curriculum.
  • To the School:
    • To work with colleagues to promote and maintain high standards of behaviour throughout the School;
    • To advise the Form Tutor/Teacher of any pupil who needs care or help or who does not respond to acceptable codes of conduct;
    • To become familiar with and practise the rules and guidelines on Health and Safety and to ensure that pupils are aware of them and comply with them;
    • To maintain high personal standards of punctuality and appearance;
    • To seek the Head’s authorisation for any anticipated absence from School; to give as much notice as possible of unavoidable absence through sickness and to indicate work for classes to follow;
    • To attend all relevant meetings with colleagues and parents and to participate in in-service training.
