Job Overview: St Leonards School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Girls' Games to join our vibrant Sports Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about girls' sport and committed to fostering a positive and high-performing environment. Working closely with the Director of Sport and other Heads of Sport, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and coordination of Hockey, Netball, and Athletics across the Senior School. As Head of Girls' Games, you will be an integral part of the St Leonards School community, responsible for preparing girls' teams for matches and developing a comprehensive sports program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coaching: Act as a role model and figurehead for girls' sport within St Leonards School. Ideally, you will be the lead technical coach for Hockey or Netball in the relevant term.
- Curriculum & Planning: Create comprehensive session plans for games groups and ensure these are communicated to academic and sports staff in advance.
- Program Development: Identify key themes for games sessions across all year groups and teams from U13 to 1st XI.
- Team Management: Assist with team selection as directed by the Director of Sport and other Heads of Sport.
- Session Delivery: Create and deliver engaging Hockey, Netball, and Athletics sessions in both the Senior and Junior School as activities, coordinating closely with the Director of Sport and Head of Junior School PE & Games.
- Event Organisation: Organise and host tournaments at St Leonards School across our major girls' sports.
- Tours: Organise and run sports tours in the UK and overseas.
- Communication & Administration: Communicate and publish results on the Sports website. Guide and coordinate teachers/coaches supporting girls' sports. Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and pupils. Update the School website and other social media sites as appropriate to showcase girls' sporting achievements. Liaise with catering and grounds staff as appropriate for sports events and activities.
Candidate Profile: We are looking for an individual with:
- Experience playing or coaching Hockey or Netball to a high standard, along with relevant coaching and umpiring qualifications.
- A strong understanding of child development and a commitment to nurturing talent at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to their work.
Desirable Skills: Experience working in schools or educational settings with youth sports programs.
