We are seeking a meticulous, proactive and dedicated Senior Biology Technician to join our thriving Biology Department at Strathallan School. This is a full-time, permanent, term-time only position.
Working closely with the Head of Biology, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the Biology Department and wider Science Faculty. Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons and experiments
- Maintaining laboratory resources
- Ordering equipment and supplies
- Providing administrative support to the department
The Senior Biology Technician will also coordinate and oversee the provision of practical resources for teaching staff, ensuring laboratories and preparation areas are organised, well equipped and operated safely. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices within a laboratory environment. Experience of undertaking risk assessments would be advantageous.
The Biology Department comprises five well-equipped teaching laboratories and is staffed by a team of five experienced and dedicated teachers. As our Senior Biology Technician, you will benefit from a spacious preparation room, a separate storeroom, and a dedicated Biology staff room for informal meetings and collaboration. The department's resource storage facilities provide a modern, organised and efficient working environment. In addition, Strathallan's extensive grounds offer a wealth of natural resources that support and enrich the teaching of Biology, creating unique opportunities for practical learning and field-based activities.

Hours of Work: This is a term-time only position, working 34.6 weeks per year. The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day.
Remuneration: £20,189 per annum
