Reporting to: Director of Drama
Working Hours: 20 hours per week (variable based on demand)
Contract: Hourly, part‑time, temporary, term time. Maternity cover from 15 August 2026 to 16 February 2027.
Salary: £27.46 per hour, submitted via Timesheet.
Job Purpose: The post-holder will uphold the ethos of St Leonards and prepare pupils in Years 4–8 for the LAMDA examinations.
Responsibilities:
- Teach the LAMDA syllabus to pupils individually or in small groups.
- Manage a timetable for drama lessons within and outside curriculum time, considering pupils’ other commitments.
- Deliver 30‑minute lessons per day during school hours, as allocated by the Director of Drama.
- Maintain regular contact and communicate effectively with parents, the Director of Drama and relevant staff regarding lesson times.
- Prepare annual progress reports.
- Enter pupils for the LAMDA exams and performances, as appropriate.
- Assist the Director of Drama to produce LAMDA showcase events when required.
This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities; the post-holder may perform additional duties as required by the school.
Essential Requirements:
Knowledge/Qualifications: Understanding of the LAMDA curriculum and relevant qualifications.
Experience: Experience teaching drama to younger age ranges.
Skills/Competencies: Enthusiastic teaching practitioner; ability to create engaging lessons; excellent written and verbal communication; competent ICT user.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work as part of the school team; approachable; able to work independently and plan workload; calm under pressure; sensitive to the needs of others; professional manner.
Desirable Requirements:
Educated to degree level in performance or drama or a related subject. GTCS registered. PGCE or PGDE qualification.
