The Levels School is an Independent Specialist Day School offering high quality education and exemplary pastoral care to students with a range of complex, specific learning differences that may include speech, language, and communication needs. Our teaching and learning provision would also meet the needs of individuals presenting with a similar learning profile to those with dyslexia and other Speech and Language Communication difficulties. Individuals with these differences often have difficulties with working memory, executive function, and speed of processing. In our experience, these learners can often suffer with anxiety and have a low self-concept, so we are also able to support vulnerable learners that suffer with fatigue or who may have been out of school due to anxiety.

An opportunity has arisen for a KS3 Leader for Maths at The Levels School full-time from September 26 (possibility for an earlier start can be discussed at interview). We are interested in appointing the right person to complement our staff team. There is the potential opportunity for increased responsibility for the right candidate. An ability to offer another subject, e.g., ICT, Business Studies, Geography, is always desirable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will need to be motivated and enthusiastic.
  • You will be joining a committed and dedicated team that have high expectations for students and work hard to ensure they achieve their maximum outcomes.
  • As the KS3 Lead for Maths, you will be working under the direction of the Maths Lead and the Head teacher and alongside the SENDCo in delivering the curriculum and providing pastoral support to our students.
  • The successful candidate will be experienced across KS3 and KS4 and will have day-to-day responsibility for leading, developing, and delivering the KS3 Maths Curriculum, including the pastoral and academic welfare of students.
  • You will need to be a qualified Teacher with experience of SEND, including knowledge of the National curriculum and the teaching of Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Enthusiasm is as important as experience, as you will need to inspire as well as teach.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a range of multi-sensory teaching techniques and be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people we support.
  • It is important that you are ambitious for our students and have a desire to problem solve and work as a cog in a small team to unpick the nature of their SEND so that strategies can be put in place to allow each student to achieve their maximum potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from mainstream or specialist education. The role of KS3 Lead for Maths is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. We are looking to appoint a flexible, adaptable, and dedicated individual with experience in working with students with SpLD and some SEMH difficulties as a result of their barriers to learning.

  • Substantial experience teaching KS3 and GCSE, delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level.
  • Knowledge of SEND, specifically SpLD.
  • Knowledge of current education issues in relation to terms of practice, process, and curriculum.
  • Have the ability to work as an integral member of a team that puts the students' learning and wellbeing at the centre.
  • Be experienced in working within a SEN setting or with predominantly SEN pupils.

We can offer:

  • Opportunities for career development and wide-ranging experiences.
  • Excellent training and ongoing support from experienced specialist teachers both in their subject specialisms and in SEND.
  • A creative and well-planned curriculum.
  • A strong emphasis on staff wellbeing.
