House Manager – full time. Fixed term to 12 December 2025
Loretto School is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools located on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We have a temporary opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as House Manager for day pupils in one of our boarding houses in Musselburgh.
Main purpose of the role:
The House Manager is a key member of the pastoral team and responsible for building positive relationships with the children in their care. You will contribute to the supervision and pastoral care of the pupils whilst on campus. You will be expected to know and nurture the pupils, and to support them in the development of their confidence and character.

- Be a present and caring parental figure for all the pupils in the boarding house.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the house and directing the Assistant Housekeepers to clean to the standard required by the School.
- Supporting the wider Life Skills programme for pupils, providing new skills and experiences for them whilst in house.

This is a temporary post to provide cover up to 12 December 2025. You will work 0800 to 1730 five days a week (Mon-Fri) and 0830 to 1600 on a Saturday with a one hour unpaid lunch break. With two days off a week (one week day and a Sunday).
Salary will be determined by experience and aptitude for the role and will be in the region of £23,000 per annum pro rata.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a domestic services environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience of supervising others is desirable.
- Currently registered, or be capable of registration, with the Scottish Social Services Council and undertake the necessary training and professional development to maintain their registration.
- Experience of working as part of team.
