Erskine Stewart’s Melville are currently recruiting for a Teacher of Biology to join the Biology Department at the ESM Senior School on a permanent basis from 17 August 2026 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). This is a permanent, full time teaching position. The salary range for this position is £35,554 to £51,492. Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience.

The postholder will be required to teach Biology to all year groups up to Advanced Higher and contribute to the School’s extra-curricular programme. Knowledge of the curriculum design, assessment and progression with experience of contributing to schemes of work, resources and maintaining safe practice, alongside a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing is essential, as well as having a genuine passion for delivering engaging, well-structured Biology lessons.

The successful candidate must be GTCS registered, or eligible for registration, with the relevant subject specific teaching degree. They will be passionate about Biology and will support the department to collaborate, create and build a successful subject offering to all students of the Senior School as well as contribute to extra-curricular activities and science programmes.

ESMS is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa. The successful candidate will only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
