This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver outstanding mathematical enrichment to capable young mathematicians across the UK. Following a successful pilot in 2025, Purposeful Ventures is working with Axiom Maths and The National Mathematics and Science College to deliver three residential maths camps for 12 to 14-year-olds in August 2026 for up to 115 pupils per camp.

We are recruiting a team of exceptional Maths Teachers who will deliver our centrally planned curriculum to a cohort of highly capable pupils. Each Maths Coach will oversee a group of pupils, supporting and challenging them as they work on exciting new areas of maths that go beyond what they encounter in the classroom. The coaches will embody the enthusiasm and mathematical excellence that the camp aims to foster in the pupils.

The team of coaches will make up the majority of staff on site, collectively ensuring the smooth running of the camp and the effective delivery of the curriculum. The camp staff will be overseen by the Vice Principal (External Relations & Development) who has ultimate responsibility for the camp; the coaches will be expected to support the Director of Short Courses in making the camp a success.

The Maths Teachers will deliver the camp curriculum, which will include classroom-based work, unstructured problem-solving sessions and other mathematical and non-mathematical activities. The coaches, as with all other adults on site, will also be responsible for ensuring that pupils have a safe, inclusive and high-quality experience. This is a pastoral and operational role as well as an academic one.

The role is a fixed-term residential position during August 2026, with mandatory training prior to the camps. Teachers will be expected to arrive having familiarised themselves with the material and be fully prepared to deliver an exceptional mathematical experience for the camp attendees.

Maths Teachers will work closely with the Vice Principal (External Relations & Development), Director of Short Courses and pastoral team, escalating concerns and operational issues as appropriate rather than holding ultimate responsibility for them. Together, the Maths Teachers will help realise the vision of Maths Camps, creating an environment where enthusiastic young mathematicians can expand their minds with the support of a team of inspiring maths educators and communicators.

The National Mathematics and Science College (NatMatSci) is the top specialist STEM college in the UK regularly appearing in the top 10 schools by A-level results. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects are more important today than they have ever been. For those students looking to excel in these areas, the specialist education we provide is designed to enable them to thrive both at A-level and beyond.

We recognise that a high-quality specialist education must go beyond the narrow confines of the curriculum and must expose our students to the breadth and joy contained within these subject areas in an integrated way. We are geared to help students learn how to think, not what to think, which will allow them to thrive at College, at the best Universities and beyond.

Academic Highlights:

  • Over 50% of grades awarded A*, with over 80% A*/A in A-levels.
  • Progression to leading universities – 20% gained places at Oxbridge over the last 3 years, over 50% at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL or LSE Universities and all students gained offers at Russell Group universities.
  • Lots of success in various national and international STEM competitions and olympiads, with at least one student a year representing the UK or their home country in an international Olympiad.

Alongside our academic focus, NatMatSci is known for excellent pastoral care and a warm, supportive community. With most students boarding, the College offers a structured environment in which students learn to live and work well together, develop independence, and build strong friendships.

Our genuinely international community — with students representing over 30 nationalities — enriches daily life both in and out of the classroom, broadening perspectives and creating a vibrant, inclusive culture where students support one another and thrive. This means students leave us not only with the academic credentials required to access top universities around the world, but also with the social and soft skills necessary to thrive when they get there.
