If you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information. Applications are invited from suitably experienced, enthusiastic and committed teaching assistants for the above post, from August 2026 to June 2027.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To support children during outdoor learning at Hutchesons’ at Pollok Park.
  • To provide classroom support to the Lower and Upper Primary Departments.
  • To work with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of Additional Support for Learning Department.
  • To provide administrative support to Teaching Staff throughout the Primary School.
  • Encouraging language development and supporting literacy and numeracy development.
  • Assisting pupils and building positive relationships with them.
  • Supporting and participating in children’s play activities by listening and talking with children, joining in play activities, supporting individuals.
  • Supervising and guiding pupils undertaking work set by the teaching staff including practical activities.
  • Assisting in playground supervision and wet playtime activities.
  • Providing early morning play supervision.
  • Escorting and supervising pupils within the school, at and on trips.
  • Providing first aid to pupils within the school, at and on trips.
  • Liaising with Deputes and teaching staff to monitor pupil behaviour.
  • Organising playground equipment.
  • Preparing, collating and cataloguing learning materials as required.
  • Maintaining stock, storage and distribution of resources as required.

The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post. The post will be over 5 days, 25 hours per week, term time.

Ideal Candidate:

You will hold a Classroom Assistant/Playworker qualification, be a qualified teacher, or have relevant school-based experience. Forest School or Outdoor Learning experience is desirable.

£16,079.12 per annum - 25 hours per week, term time only.
