TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH provision in Wolverhampton that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. The school is dedicated to building positive relationships, promoting emotional wellbeing and helping students develop the confidence, resilience and life skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
The school is looking to appoint a full‑time Humanities Teacher on a temporary to permanent basis, starting ASAP. The successful Humanities Teacher will teach Humanities to young adults with SEMH needs, many of whom display challenging behaviour and have experienced significant barriers to education. You will be expected to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, implement effective behaviour management strategies, de‑escalate challenging situations, build positive relationships with students and support their academic, social and emotional development.
The successful Humanities Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching Humanities in a secondary or specialist setting
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour and additional behavioural needs
- Excellent classroom management and the ability to confidently de‑escalate challenging situations using restorative and trauma‑informed approaches
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers
- A resilient, patient and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for helping young people reach their full potential
