TeacherActive are proud to be working with an Outstanding Secondary School in Wakefield and are actively recruiting for a Caretaker to maintain a safe, secure and well-presented school environment. The ideal candidate will ensure classrooms, corridors, toilets and outdoor areas are clean, safe and in good condition. The role of a caretaker also requires repairing minor fixings, reporting major issues and ensuring the heating, water and electrical systems are working properly.

As well as this, the candidate will play a key role in keeping the school environment safe. This involves locking and unlocking the premises, checking for hazards, managing fire safety procedures and sometimes overseeing visitor access.

The successful Caretaker will have:

  • Experience in general maintenance or facilities role, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • An understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
  • Full driving licence including D1, with a maximum of 3 points for minibus driving (training may be provided for the relevant D1).
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to strict deadlines.
