TeacherActive is looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in specialist SEND schools across Rotherham. We work with settings that support learners from EYFS through to Post-16, with a wide range of needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and more.
This particular provision is a specialist post-14 campus for young people aged 14 to 19 with SEND. It was developed to meet the increasing need for SEND places in the local area and serves as an extension of wider specialist provision in the borough. The campus is focused on preparing students for life beyond school by delivering a curriculum that emphasises:
- Work-based learning
- Independent life skills
- Community participation
Students follow personalised pathways designed around their EHCPs, ensuring they gain the skills, confidence, and experiences needed to transition successfully into adulthood, whether that\’s further education, supported employment, or active participation in their community.
The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will be:
- Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or experienced in working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs
- Calm, patient, and adaptable in their approach
- Confident with behaviour management strategies
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection guidelines
- Experienced in supporting young people on a 1:1 and small group basis
