TeacherActive is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with Special Needs Experience to join a supportive school environment in Plymouth. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those stemming from trauma and social-emotional mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in providing tailored support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Work closely with children who have additional needs, particularly those affected by trauma and social-emotional difficulties.
  • Create a nurturing and safe environment that fosters emotional and academic development.
  • Support children with behavioural needs and implement strategies to support positive learning experiences.
  • Foster strong communication with parents and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with special needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
  • Ability to work effectively in a classroom setting and provide 1:1 or group support as needed.
  • Must drive and have access to your own car.
  • Passionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable children.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and implement appropriate strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Salary:
£90 - £95 per day, depending on experience.
