TeacherActive is proud to be working with supportive secondary schools across Taunton who are looking to appoint confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors. Working as a Cover Supervisor gives you the opportunity to experience different classrooms, subjects and year groups, while developing the practical skills, confidence and school-based experience that can be invaluable when progressing towards a career in teaching.
The schools are looking for Cover Supervisors to work on a full-time basis from September, delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher and ensuring students remain engaged with their learning. You will manage classroom behaviour, provide guidance to students and create a positive learning environment, giving you valuable experience of leading a whole class and developing the skills schools look for in future teaching staff.
The successful Cover Supervisor will have:
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally within a school or educational setting
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confidence leading a classroom and delivering pre-planned lessons across different subjects
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff
- A proactive, adaptable approach and genuine enthusiasm for working with young people
