TeacherActive seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated full‑time Year 5/6 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in September. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching to a mixed‑age Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils as they prepare for transition to secondary school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum aligned with the Curriculum for Wales, ensuring all learners are supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons across all Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs)
- Implement the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, including:
- Progression‑based learning
- Cross‑curricular delivery
- Development of the Four Purposes
- Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners
- Provide appropriate challenge for more able pupils and support for those with ALN
Assessment & Progress
- Use formative and summative assessment effectively to inform planning
- Track and monitor pupil progress in line with school systems
- Provide constructive feedback to pupils to support improvement
Classroom Environment
- Establish a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
- Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policy
- Support pupils emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Develop strong relationships with pupils based on respect and trust
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- Identify and support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- Work closely with the ALNCo to implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Differentiate learning effectively to meet diverse needs
Wider School Contribution
- Contribute to whole‑school initiatives and development priorities
- Participate in staff meetings, INSET and professional learning
- Engage with parents, carers and the wider community
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2
- Strong understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
- Excellent classroom management skillsAbility to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
