We are currently seeking dedicated, patient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and personally.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working with small groups, or assisting the class teacher with inclusive classroom practice. The role is ideal for someone who is calm, flexible and committed to making a meaningful difference to children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, SEMH and communication barriers.

The Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant Will Be Able To:

  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties
  • Provide effective 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning plans and pupil targets
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, phase leaders and external professionals to deliver personalised support strategies
  • Adapt learning activities, resources and communication approaches to suit different abilities and learning styles
  • Promote positive behaviour using calm, consistent and restorative strategies
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, confidence, independence and social development
  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, interventions and targeted learning activities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

The Successful SEND Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with a range of learning, behavioural and emotional needs
  • A flexible and proactive attitude
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
