TeacherActive is working with a specialist education setting in the Kennington area seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team. The successful Speech and Language Therapist will work closely with pupils, teachers, Teaching Assistants, SEND professionals and families to assess communication needs and deliver individualised therapeutic support.
The role will include:
- Assessing pupils' speech, language and communication needs
- Developing and delivering individual and group therapy programmes
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and communication needs
- Setting appropriate therapy targets and monitoring pupil progress
- Providing strategies for teachers and Teaching Assistants to use within the classroom
- Contributing to EHCP targets, reviews and individual support plans
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, families and other professionals
- Maintaining accurate therapy records and progress reports
- Supporting staff to embed communication strategies throughout the school day
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience within SEND, specialist or educational settings
- Knowledge of autism, SLCN and additional learning needs
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
