Alongside the school staff the school have a Speech and Language Therapist who comes in weekly to support the pupils according to their statements.
The school are keen to promote inclusion and the children follow the same topics as children of the same age. They spend some time during each week, as appropriate to their individual needs in their mainstream classes.
The school are looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant 5 days a week to work alongside the class teacher in the Foundation Phase Specialist Teaching Facility. Experience with speech sounds and visual phonics would be advantageous and further training and will be provided from outreach speech and language support. This role will start in September and will be for the full academic year.
TeacherActive are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate who:
Will have relevant experience of working with children (minimum of 6 months)
Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Has experience of supporting a range of speech and language needs,
Has knowledge of speech and language support structures such as visual phonics;
Has experience of following Individual Education Plans (IEP’s)
Will be required to work under the direction of the class teacher and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the school
