About the Role
We are working closely with a welcoming 2-form entry primary school in Smethwick who are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis. This role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties. You will play a key role in helping pupils regulate emotions, remain engaged in learning, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs, including challenging behaviour
- Be confident working 1:1 and in small groups
- Demonstrate a calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Be available 5 days per week, 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Work effectively as part of a wider classroom and pastoral team
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain a new DBS through TeacherActive
- Ability to provide 2 references from recent employers
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Qualifications in Supporting Teaching & Learning (Level 2 or Level 3) are desirable but not essential — experience is key
