Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour? Do you have experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEMH school or similar specialist setting?
TeacherActive is looking for a confident and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary Alternative Provision supporting young people who require additional help with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with education.
The Role
- Support secondary-aged pupils with SEMH, ADHD and additional learning needs
- Work with pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support
- Help pupils re-engage with learning and build confidence
- Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Build strong, consistent and professional relationships with pupils
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider SEND team
- Support pupils academically, socially and emotionally
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous SEMH experience
- Ideally has experience within an Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist secondary setting
- Is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
- Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure
- Can establish clear boundaries while building positive relationships
- Is passionate about supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education
