About the Role:
TeacherActive is working in partnership with a dynamic and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets, seeking a resilient, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This full-time position involves supporting pupils from EYFS to Key Stage 2 who present with a range of special educational needs and significantly challenging behaviour, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour

Implement strategies to de-escalate incidents and promote positive behaviour and engagement

Support teachers in adapting lesson content and resources to meet individual learning needs

Work collaboratively with the SENCO, behaviour leads, and external professionals

Maintain detailed behaviour records and contribute to the development of IEPs/EHCPs
-
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

Promote a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment across all key stages
Requirements:

A minimum of 6 months experience working in a school setting with SEN and/or challenging behaviour

Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and apply consistent behaviour support strategies

A flexible and empathetic approach with excellent interpersonal skills

A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or equivalent) is highly desirable

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training available if needed)
