Role details
- Location: Colchester, Essex
- Contract: Short-term cover, until Christmas
- Hours: Full-time or part-time positions available (to be discussed)
- Start date: Immediate or as agreed
- School type: Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision / mainstream with SEN cohorts
- Accountability: Report to the school SENCo / Headteacher, with support from TeacherActive
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students with varying SEND needs
- Implement individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and support students to achieve targets
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, other staff, and external professionals
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all students in line with school policies
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching or supporting children with SEND
- Strong behavior management skills and resilience
- Knowledge of SEN frameworks (e.g., ASD, SLD, SEMH) and relevant strategies
- DBS on the update service or willing to undergo a new DBS
- Adaptability, reliability, and excellent communication skills
