TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist educational provision in Runcorn to recruit a passionate and dedicated Food and Catering Tutor. This provision supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to develop both academically and personally. The school offers small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and a therapeutic approach to learning, helping students re-engage with education and build confidence, independence, and life skills.

The Role

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, hands‑on catering lessons
  • Supporting students to develop practical cooking skills and food hygiene knowledge
  • Encouraging teamwork, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Managing behaviour positively and effectively

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds relevant qualifications in Food Technology, Catering, or a related field
  • Has experience teaching or tutoring Food/Catering (desirable)
  • Has experience working with students with SEMH needs (desirable)
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
  • Is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
  • Has experience working in a similar role (desirable)
