TeacherActive is working with a lovely primary school in DE7, Ilkeston, seeking caring SEN Teaching Assistants for day-to-day supply cover. You’ll help pupils access learning, build independence and feel confident in the classroom. What the role involves: Supporting primary pupils with SEND individually and in small groups. Adapting classroom activities alongside the teacher to meet individual needs. Helping pupils develop communication, literacy and numeracy skills. Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour. Encouraging independence, friendships and participation. Working with teachers, the SENCO and support staff to provide consistent support. The successful applicant will have: A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND. An understanding of needs such as autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. Knowledge of the primary curriculum and ways to adapt learning. A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
