A Primary SEND School based in Sutton Coldfield is looking for a School Caretaker to join their team. The school is committed to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all pupils and staff. Maintaining the school's premises is essential to creating a positive and inspiring atmosphere for learning. We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Caretaker to play a key role in ensuring that the school is well-maintained and operational.
Role Overview:
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for ensuring the school site is clean, secure, and well-maintained. You will support the smooth running of the school on a daily basis, contributing to the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff, students, and visitors.
Shift Pattern:
- Morning Shift: 6:30 AM – 11:00 AM
- Afternoon Shift: 3:15 PM – 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including classrooms, offices, corridors, and outdoor spaces.
- Routine checks and minor repairs, including lighting, plumbing, and furniture maintenance.
- Opening and closing the school, ensuring security at all times.
- Setting up for school events, assemblies, and meetings.
- Liaising with external contractors and suppliers when required.
- Ensuring health and safety regulations are adhered to across the school premises.
- General porterage tasks such as moving furniture and delivering supplies.
- Responding to emergency maintenance issues as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role is desirable.
- Ability to undertake general maintenance and repair work.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices.
- A proactive and hands-on approach with a problem-solving mindset.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- A flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in working in a school or similar environment.
- A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required before employment.
