Specialist Support Position – Specialist Setting (Ages 5–16)

We are working with a specialist residential and day provision in Dawlish that educates and cares for children and young people aged 5–16 with communication and interaction needs, Autistic Spectrum Conditions and associated learning needs. The environment blends therapeutic support, personalised learning and a holistic curriculum designed to develop confidence, independence and communication for each young person.

The role:

  • Supporting pupils across the school day and, where applicable, within residential routines
  • Promoting communication, positive behaviour and engagement with personalised learning pathways
  • Working as part of a team to deliver tailored interventions and positive experiences that enhance pupils’ social, emotional and developmental progress
  • Collaborating with clinicians, therapists, teachers and care teams to provide consistent support rooted in understanding and structure

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have solid experience supporting pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, communication needs or complex learning profiles
  • Communicate confidently with children and young people with varied needs and learning styles
  • Can remain calm, consistent and compassionate in structured and flexible learning environments
  • Have worked in specialist, SEMH or SEND settings (desirable) and value teamwork, positive behaviour support and child-centred practice
