TeacherActive are looking to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND setting in South East London. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with children and young people with complex needs, including autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop independence throughout the school day.
The role will include:
- Supporting pupils with a range of complex SEND needs
- Assisting with learning, communication and emotional regulation
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
- Helping create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting pupils with personal development and daily routines
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- A patient, caring and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
- A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
