This opportunity is part of an innovative outreach project supporting secondary schools across Mid and North East Essex, promoting inclusion, reducing permanent exclusions and helping young people overcome barriers to education through a compassionate, trauma‑informed approach.
The Trust is looking to appoint an Outreach, Engagement and Intervention Worker on a full‑time, term‑time only basis. The successful worker will initially complete a 12‑week temporary placement through TeacherActive before transferring to the Trust for the remainder of the fixed term contract until 31st August 2028. Working across schools in Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester and Tendring, you will deliver tailored one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions, build strong relationships with pupils and school staff, and work independently to improve engagement, attendance and positive educational outcomes. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential due to the travel required across the region.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people to achieve positive educational and/or social outcomes
- Experience delivering one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions using trauma‑informed approaches
- Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with pupils, families and professionals
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently across multiple school sites
- A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and appropriate business insurance
- Resilience, empathy and a proactive, solution‑focused approach
