Mental Health Mentor – Specialist SEND Provision

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist provision within a primary school in Upper Norwood, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Mentor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an improving school that is looking for hardworking, committed, and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference.
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require specialist support with their emotional wellbeing, mental health, behaviour, and engagement in education. You will provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence, independence, and positive coping strategies. Personal care is required as part of this role.
The successful Mental Health Mentor will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with mental health difficulties, SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils
- Experience supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Confidence providing personal care when required
- A hardworking, resilient, and dedicated attitude
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience within a school or specialist setting is desirable but not essential.
